Dale Hamilton Pierce
Dale Hamilton Pierce, 1419 West St, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Newman Regional Health. He was 81.
Mr. Pierce worked in the gas department for Kansas Power and Light for 24 years before he retired 19 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army in the 754th Field Artillery Battalion in World War II.
The son of Fred and Lydia Haworth Pierce, he was born Nov. 23, 1924, at Americus. He married Roberta J. Williams on June 19, 1953, at Rogers, Ark. She survives.
Mr. Pierce was a member of the First Congregational Church. He also was a member of American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980.
He is also survived by two daughters, Debbie Wilson and Sherry Nolan, both of Emporia; one brother, Jim Pierce of Wichita; two sisters, Betty Goff of Perry, Iowa, and Lucille Davee of Wichita; and five grandchildren. A brother, Charles Pierce, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First Congregational Church. The Rev. Chad Poland will conduct the service. Burial, with services conducted by Ball-McColm Post 5 and Post 1980 , will be in Americus Cemetery.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Girl and Boy Scouts of Emporia or the Salvation Army and sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
