George Scott Weeks

Former Emporia resident George Scott Weeks died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at the Regional Medical Center in Muskogee, Okla. He was 69.
Mr. Weeks taught science at Anaheim, Calif., worked for Disney World in Florida in the electronics department and managed a ski resort at Aspen, Colo. He served four years in the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt as a pilot.
The son of Ralph B. and Lois V. Scott Weeks, he was born Jan. 8, 1937, at Pittsburg. He graduated from Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in science.
Mr. Weeks is survived by three children, George S. Weeks II and Stacey L. Weeks, both of Hawaii, and Cheryl L. Sanchez of California; his father of Grove, Okla.; one sister, Marcia V. Cavenah of Grove, Okla.; and six grandchildren. His mother died in 2004.
The graveside service, with military honors conducted by the Grove Ritual Team, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Buzzard Cemetery at Grove, Okla.
The Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove has the arrangements.
