Clarence Edwin Riggs

Clarence Edwin Riggs, 1601 W. South Ave., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at Newman Regional Health. He was 87.
Ed Riggs owned and operated C.E. Riggs Landscaping in Emporia for more than 20 years before he retired in 2002. He received an award for his landscaping at Newman Regional Health.
He previously worked for Kansas Soy Products in Emporia for five years.
The son of Clarence Stanley and Esther Eudora Gillman Riggs, he was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Emporia. He married Naomi F. McMullin in 1943. They were divorced.
Mr. Riggs was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he was Sunday school superintendent and president of the church board.
He is survived by two sons, Stanley Riggs of Emporia and Larry Riggs of Tyler, Texas; one brother, Glenn Riggs of Waverly; one sister, Blanche Baker of Waverly; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Mark Henson of the church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Rosean Cemetery, north of Emporia.
