Aden Waldron Lynes, GRIDLEY
Aden Waldron Lynes of Gridley and formerly of Burlington died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at Stormont-Vail hospital in Topeka. He was 69.
Mr. Lynes worked at Charloma in Burlington and previously worked eight years at Fisher Sanitation. Earlier, he was a truck driver and then worked for E.M. Boyce at a sand plant near Burlington.
The son of Christopher Columbus and Nora Opal Hoyt Lynes, he was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Elk Falls. He spent his childhood at Moline.
He married Martha Laverne Mauldin on Jan. 19, 1957, at Fort Worth, Texas, where they lived until 1961, when they moved to Burlington. They recently moved to Gridley. In 1983, he earned his general education degree.
Mr. Lynes was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Burlington.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Aden Leslie Lynes of Iola; six daughters, Soni Velasques of Emporia, Toni McGee and Susan Goff of Burlington, Dianne Dawson of Waverly, Evelyn Hawkins of Gridley and Dana Leedy of Yates Center; two brothers, Otis Lynes of Winfield and Ronald Lynes of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Martha Corbin of Fort Worth, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Jones Funeral Home at Burlington. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery, west of Burlington. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
