Vera Virginia

Vera Virginia Tarro died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at Peterson Nursing Home in Osage City. She was 105.
Mrs. Tarro and her husband, Joe Tarro, owned and operated Central Beauty and Barber Shop and later owned Tarro Variety, until she retired. She was a lifelong resident of Osage City
The daughter of John and Secunda Scribante Gamba, she was born May 19, 1901, at Osage City. She married Joseph I. Tarro on Aug. 21, 1921, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Osage City. He died June 30, 1974.
Mrs. Tarro was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the church Altar Society. She was secretary-treasurer of the March of Dimes, the Democratic committee woman of her ward, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Marshall Club and was on the board of directors of the Senior Citizens and the fair board.
She is survived by two daughter, Betty J. Buck of Burlingame and Carolyn L. Brentlingerof Topeka; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Osage City. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the church. Friends may call until 6 p.m. today at the VanArdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City.
