William A. Collins

William A. Collins, 81, of 2407 Apple Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at the Flint Hills Care Center.
He was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Emporia, the son of Fredric F. and Olive P. Neff Collins. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Navy. He served in the South pacific and spent his last year of service in China with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He married Dovie M. Clopton Leach on Oct. 3, 1977 in Emporia. She survives.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor at the Dolly Madison plant.
Mr. Collins was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a life member and past commanders of VFW Post 1980 and a life member of American legion Post 5.
Other survivors include: Two sons, William Albin of Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert Albin of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Pam Lunberg and Jan Prices, both of Topeka; three stepsons, Daniel Leach of Florida, David Leach and Thomas Leach, both of Texas; one stepdaughter, Nancy Boyce of Emporia; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will be at Line Cemetery northwest of Madison.
The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
