Hartford first responders, Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol and an Emporia Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle injury accident on Saturday afternoon at mile marker 140 on Interstate 35 in Lyon County, according to a Sheriff’s Department press release.
Abby Koch of Iowa was driving a black 2006 Nissan Altima, and she struck the rear portion of a 2007 Freightliner semi tractor and trailer that was driven by Terry Hicks of South Carolina, who was parked on the shoulder of the interstate.
Koch was transported to Newman Regional Health for minor injuries and was later released. Hicks was not injured. The accident is under investigation by the Lyon County Sheriff’s office.
