Mayes graduates from UW-Stevens Point
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point conferred degrees on more than 555 graduates during the university’s 2011 winter commencement ceremonies, including Daphne M. Mayes of Hartford, who received a Master of Science in Natural Resources.
Graduates, their guests and faculty were addressed by UW System Regent Mark Bradley. Chancellor Bernie Patterson welcomed the participants and Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor Greg Summers recognized honor students and award winners.
Fessler, Karjala graduate
More than 700 undergraduate, graduate and nursing students at Baker University received their degrees during commencement ceremonies Dec. 17-18 at the Collins Center. Graduates included Emporians Susan Fessler, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Ryan Karjala, Master of Science in School Leadership.
Baker, the first university in Kansas, has been listed among the top schools in the Midwest in the annual college rankings by U.S. News & World Report, and selected as a top school in the Midwest by The Princeton Review. Baker has been named one of the top 100 Best Values in Private Universities by Kiplinger’s Personal for combining outstanding quality with affordability.
Baker University Dean’s list announced
The following students were named to Baker University’s College of Arts and Sciences and School of Education undergraduate dean’s list for maintaining a 3.5 grade-point average or higher during the fall 2011 semester:
David Bowers of Burlington; Kendra Clark, Nancy Delgado, Matthew Fry, Eric Reimer, Jenna Stanbrough and Kylie White of Emporia; and Elizabeth Hopkins of New Strawn.
Waechter makes Dean’s List
Brisa Waechter of Emporia has made the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Dean’s List for Fall Semester 2011.
To qualify, a student must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or better and have 12 hours calculated (B is equivalent to 3.0; A to 4.0).
McGuire recognized by MSU
Melissa A. McGuire of Emporia has made the fall Dean’s list. Each semester, students at Missouri State University who attain academic excellence are named to the dean’s list. For undergraduate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the fall semester and at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).
Victoria Edwards makes President’s list
Victoria Edwards, daughter of Katherine and Rick Edwards of Emporia, has been placed on the Fall 2011 President’s list for her scholastic performance at Cottey College. In order to be on the list, the student’s grade point average must be between a 3.75 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale, with a minimum of 12 credit hours completed.
Cottey is supported by the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization dedicated to supporting women in education.
