Chase County Elementary School
Special to the Gazette
Friday, January 27, 2012
A meeting will be held to discuss the Cottonwood Falls Elementary School Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the elementary school building in Strong City. All concerned citizens are welcome. Below is a proposed agenda.
F Get a realistic picture of what needs to happen to stabilize, reopen and operate the facility.
A report from the district with the estimates that have been received for the work needed to be done to upgrade the electrical connection and repair the boiler and any other work needed to be completed to reopen (or even stabilize) the building should be available.
F Possible uses for the building — a short brainstorming session to get as many proposed uses as possible
F Possible funding sources — a short brainstorming session to think of possible short and long-term funding partners.
F Determination of interest to move forward, possibly nominating 2 teams, one to address restoration and use (fthe irst goal would be coming up with a realistic budget to reopen and operate), the other to develop a funding strategy for short and long term partnerships. Both teams would agree to report back within 60 days (before April) to meet together to discuss feasibility of moving forward with a recommendation.
