2012 People Saving People Award
Nominations are now being accepted for the Kansas Dept. of Transportation’s annual People Saving People Award. This award is for people, projects and organizations that make safe travel happen in Kansas.
The award ceremony will be held April 18, during the closing luncheon of the Kansas Transportation Safety Conference in Topeka.
Nomination criteria and forms are available from KDOT’s Steve Halbett, 785-296-3756 (office), 785-291-3010 (fax), or halbett@ksdot.org, and are due by March 6.
Petition signing
A signing of the petition to place the proposed merger of the Lyon County Extension office with the Frontier District on the fall ballot will start 11 a.m. Monday near Fourth Avenue and Commercial Street, adjacent to Symmonds & Symmonds law firm at 427 Commercial, said Phil Dillon, who has been putting the petition together.
“I will be setting up something up like a card table with petitions,” he said.
Road open
The Lyon County Highway Department has completed repair work on a bridge, and has reopened Burlingame Road between Roads 275 and 280.
