This year’s Leadership Emporia class has had a successful year and has exhausted the supply of flags it has been distributing.
As part of the class’s project, participants in Leadership Emporia have been handing out U.S. flags to those interested. As part of the project, the group spent about two hours Saturday morning hanging flags for veterans at Holiday Resort.
“It’s a nice touch,” said Brandy Nance of the group’s efforts at Holiday Resort. “I think they’re very appreciative. They served their country and they deserve recognition.”
As of this weekend, Leadership Emporia has distributed about 300 flags.
“We just wanted to give back to the community,” Nance said. “We bounced around a few ideas at the beginning of Leadership Emporia and this came out of a brainstorming session, and we thought it would be a great way to give back to the community.”
