Bowyer wins 2011 Coca-Cola Chug for Charity title, benefits Emporia's “79 Fund”

Friday, January 20, 2012

The Coca-Cola Company’s “Chug for Charity” program and NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer have donated $63,000 to the Emporia Community Foundation “79 Fund” for Bowyer’s efforts as the 2011 Coca-Cola Chug for Charity Champion. As a member of the Coca-Cola Racing Family from 2008-2011, Bowyer earned a total of $173,000.

Established in 2002, The Coca-Cola Chug for Charity program offers a unique incentive for drivers to stay refreshed with ice-cold Coca-Cola whenever they are at the track. This competition among Coca-Cola Racing Family members offers ‘points’ for Chugs, and the driver with the most points at the end of each segment earns a donation to his preferred charity in his name. The donation for each driver is totaled at the end of the year, and the driver with the largest donation is declared the Chug for Charity Champion. A top contender for this honor in throughout his time as a Coca-Cola Racing Family member, Bowyer “out-chugged” the competition in 2011, taking the overall title.
