The Emporia Gazette
The Madison Bulldogs had a size advantage in the paint and that helped them to a 61-43 win over Hartford on Tuesday at Madison.
The Bulldogs led 33-24 at the half, but extended that lead in the second half as Cassidy Barnard scored 14 of her 20 points in the second half. Nicole Farthing had 16 points while Tyler Farthing and Samantha Bond each added eight points for the Bulldogs.
“We definitely had a stronger post presence today,” Madison coach Crystal Ecton said. “And that’s what we were really focusing on.”
Mikayla Wilson had 14 points and Emily Kirby had nine for Hartford.
“I really think that we couldn’t matchup very well on the inside with them,” Hartford coach Yvonne Gardner said. “I just felt like we didn’t do our job inside the paint and that’s one of things that we’d had been working on all week to prepare for. But we had some good moments, but I don’t think we executed very well on what we needed to do. They played a whole better tonight than they did in the Lebo Tournament.”
