This year for the Emporia High Sports season The Emporia Gazette, in partnership with the Emporia High School’s E-Vision class, has been live streaming sporting events over the Internet.
To date we have broadcast all the home football games, one soccer game and a volleyball game.
Watching live Spartan sports on your computer or cell phone can’t duplicate the experience of being there. But for people who cannot attend the games this has been a great viewing experience. We have received rave reviews from people who have relatives who can’t attend the games or living in other parts of the country who are excited they can now watch the action.
ESU Athletics Media Relations Director Don Weast commented on how he was in Colorado watching the Emporia High football game on his cell phone.
We want to thank EHS teacher Corey Wiltz and the E-Vision class for a great partnership. We want to thank Gazette Staffer Matt Fowler, who has worked with E-vision to produce the broadcasts. But most importantly we want to thank the sponsors for making these broadcasts possible: Williams Automotive, Dr. Kerry Thompson, DDS, Sutherlands, ESB Financial, Newman Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Hills Pet Nutrition, First Start Rental, KansasLand Tire, Flint Hills Music and Wheat State Pizza.
If you have not been able to view the games online, we will be rebroadcasting them on Cable One channel 70 starting next week. Watch the paper for dates and times of games.
This Friday is the last home football game. The broadcast will begin at 6:50 p.m. Next Wednesday, EHS soccer will be streamed live at 6 p.m.
If you can’t make it to the game, check it out on your computer, your cell phone or the replay the following week on E-TV channel 70.
