Lebo stays undefeated

Saturday, October 8, 2011

The Lebo Wolves remained undefeated with a 46-0 road win at Southern Coffey County. The Wolves opened up with a 16-point first quarter before closing out the game with a 30-point second quarter. Trevor White led the way with 94 yards rushing on three carries. White ran for two touchdowns. The first was a 30-yard run in the first quarter and the second a 55-yard run in the second quarter.

Lebo outgained the Titans 243-79 in total yards. Defensively, the Wolves were able to force three fumbles. Despite the statistical domination, coach Troy McArthur wanted to see a better effort before the Oct. 14 game against Madison.

“It was a win, but it was not a pretty win,” McArthur said. “It was not a win I would like to see going into Madison this week. I would’ve liked to see a lot of things sharper. We’ve gotta get some things straightened out and get ready for Madison.”

Lebo and Madison will both enter the matchup with 6-0 records.

Madison 63, Marais des Cygnes Valley 22

It took four quarters, but the Madison Bulldogs defeated Marais des Cygnes Valley this Friday 63-22 after finding themselves down early. The Bulldogs suffered through a long first-quarter drive by Marais des Cygnes Valley which ended in them being down 8-6 entering the second quarter. Despite being down, Madison responded with a drive that ended in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Collin Kile to Bubba Smith.

“We did a nice job of just keeping our composure,” assistant coach Tracy Griffin said. “We responded well, came right back and put a nice drive together. That drive got us rolling in the game.”

Madison came back in the second quarter and scored 30 points to take a 36-8 lead into the half. The Bulldogs added 14 in the third and a quick touchdown in the fourth which gave them 50 straight points.
