The Emporia State Hornets ended the regular season with a 62-21 loss Saturday at Northwest Missouri State.
NWMSU rolled up 603 yards of total offense, led by James Franklin's 229 yards rushing.
NWMSU's Jordan Simmons added four total touchdowns, including a 46-yard punt return in the third quarter.
ESU trailed just 28-14 at the half before being outscored 34-7 in the second half.
Tyler Eckenrode was 26 of 42 for 282 yards and a touchdown passing and LaDarrian Page rushed for 63 yards on 13 carries to lead the Hornets (5-6, 3-6 MIAA).
The loss, however, doesn't mean ESU's season is over. The Hornets still have a shot at a bowl invite and the Kanza Bowl and Mineral Water Bowl are possibilities. The postseason pairing will be announced at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
