Trapped in rec center

Monday, November 7, 2011

Details are not yet available about how two people were locked inside the Lee Beran Recreation Center during the weekend.

"I can't go into detail right now," said Rec Center director Tom McEvoy. "We're conducting a personnel investigation on it. ...

"I want to say one thing. I regret this. The whole entire staff down here regrets deeply, deeply that this incident happened."

The two people — apparently a mother and daughter — were locked inside the center from approximately 8:10 p.m. Saturday until the following afternoon at about 12:45, when a center supervisor came to work and unlocked doors in the building.

"I'd like to go into further detail but right now I'm not at liberty to do that," McEvoy said.

Names of the women and other details were not yet available.

I can assure you, had I been in that situation, I would not have been locked in all weekend. Can't wait for the details to be divulged.

This whole thing sounds very strange to me. I haven't been there for quite awhile, but I'm pretty sure they have the "crash bar" type of door so you can get out, even if you can't get in. Plus there surely had to be a phone they could get to, even if they didn't have a cell phone.

This is bizarre. I'd have broken a window if I didn't have a cell phone. Wow, can't wait for the details.

If there are not panic doors on this building the fire marshall should be taking a look into this, what if there had been a fire?

SOUNDS LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO USE THEIR CAR ALARM TO SUMMON HELP.

So their car got towed. Not a good night for these people.

With every light turned on, and the Police patrols driving by. and flashing the outside lights they got rescued .Oh wait they never thought of that, and the cop's were parked east end of town sleeping. Maybe they need an employee to do a walk thru check of every room. NAH thats too much work.. NEVER MIND....
