WICHITA—The Olpe girls track team won its second consecutive state championship Saturday at the state meet held at Cessna Stadium. The Eagles had 43.50 points to take the Class 1A team title. Second-place Victoria had 38 points and Pike Valley scored 36 points to finish third.
The Eagles took home the crown without winning any individual events. Distance runner Katelyn Henderson generated 16 points in her individual events, finishing second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:27.48, third in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:59.32 and sixth in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:26.83. Henderson was also part of the Eagles' 4x800-meter relay team that finished fourth. Kendyl McDougald finished second in javelin for the Eagles with a throw of 123-feet-5.
Lebo's Austin Holmes won the boys Class 1A 800-meter dash title with a time of 2:00.58.
