Olpe, Lebo take regional titles

Olpe took the girls team title and Lebo won the boys crown at Friday’s Class 1A regional track meet at Burlington.

The Eagles also posted a third-place team score on the boys side and Madison finished third in the girls meet.

The Olpe girls had 152 points and won the meet by 70 points. Distance runner Katelyn Henderson led the Eagles with three individual event wins. She took the 800-meter run with a time of 2:34.72. She also won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:49.06 and took the 3,200-meter race in 12:22.75.

Taylor Scheidegger took the 300-meter hurdle title for Olpe with a time of 49.56 seconds. The Eagles’ 4x100-meter relay team of Haley Herrick, Emmy Redeker, Scheidegger and Kendyl McDougald won with a time of 52.62 seconds.

The Eagles also won the 4x400-meter relay title with a time of 4:26.03. Henderson anchored that race, and was joined by Katie Barnhart, Kathryn Flott and Haley Henderson on the relay team. Flott, Barnhart, Katelyn Henderson and Emily Samuels won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:53.46.

Herrick won the girls pole vault with a mark of nine feet. Redeker won the girls triple jump with a mark of 34-10. McDougald won the girls javelin with a mark of 126 feet.

Hartford’s Callie Clark won the girls long jump title with a mark of 16-8 1/4. Madison’s Nicole Farthing won the discus with a mark of 121-7.

Lebo’s win on the boys side also came by a lopsided margin. The Wolves came up with 118 points while second-place finisher South Haven had 64.50 points.

The Wolves got the big win despite taking only three individual events. The 4x100-meter relay team of Thadd Barker, Blake Davies, Alex Linsey and Tyson Robke won with a time of 44.96 seconds. Dylan Kelley won the long jump title with a mark of 21-8. Linsey won the javelin with a mark of 174-5. Lebo had 15 additional top-five finishes.

Madison’s Willie Derryberry won the boys long jump title with a jump of 6-4. Bulldog teammate Dylan Barnard won the shot put with a mark of 48-7. Olpe’s Isaac Hall won the boys discus title with a mark of 135-1.
