103rd Annual Chase County Alumni Weekend

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

The annual Chase County Community High School/Chase County High School Alumni Weekend is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Cottonwood Falls. A fun weekend is planned with a Night of Stars theme. All scheduled events are open to the public with the exception of the banquet on Saturday evening which is by reservation. Proceeds from activities help fund school projects, scholarships, and future alumni weekends.

Friday night is the kick-off for the alumni weekend at Swope Park Cottonwood Falls. The night will feature BBQ and music. The music will be that of Chase County’s own all female band, The Skirts. Events start at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The meal will be served by Southfork Smokeshack-“Its’ better than good” Mike Hastings, class of 1967 and his wife Kathy of Tulsa, OK. Bring your appetite because the portions are big and the prices are small! $6.50 for meal. The 2011 Relay for Life of Chase County team will have an Ice Cream Social and Luminaire Booth set up as well.

Saturday morning the third alumni parade begins at 11 a.m. in downtown Cottonwood Falls. Throughout the day on Saturday various class reunions will be held. Alumni and guests are encouraged to visit downtown businesses as well as area museums and attractions. As a convenience to alumni and guests, the Alumni Association has rented the community building in Swope Park for visiting throughout the day and after the banquet.

Saturday evening is the annual banquet held at Chase County High School. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. with the banquet catered by Olpe Chicken House starting at 6 p.m. Saturday evening following the banquet the Alumni Association is hosting a free dance from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. featuring the band “Co-Dependents” from Emporia.

The weekend wraps up with a golf tournament and social on Sunday at the Cottonwood Falls Country Club. The 3-man scramble cost $20 per person to enter. Registration is from 8 to 9 a.m. Sunday morning with tee-off time set for 9 a.m. A buffet style lunch will be available at an additional cost.
