If you want to shop downtown but don’t want to do so in the heat, the Midnight Madness sale tonight might be for you.
Stores downtown will be open from 8 p.m. to midnight for the second Midnight Madness sale. Stores will be offering sales and special offers.
Casey Woods, executive director of Emporia Main Street, said the first Midnight Madness sale in December went over very well.
“There were a lot of positive comments by customers and different businesses,” Woods said.
The summer edition of the sale replaces the sidewalk sale, Woods said.
He said it will be cooler to shop late at night and the Midnight Madness event will also accommodate people who work during the day.
“Giving people the option to shop late just made sense,” Woods said.
Go to emporiamainstreet.com for a complete list of stores taking part in the event and the sales the stores will offer.
The Sweet Granada will offer 20 percent off of everything, Town Crier will offer 20 percent off children’s books, $3 books and 50 percent off sale items, and Plum Bazaar will have a $10 jewelry table.
Forget Me Not Productions will have 30 percent off items storewide, Caribbean Sun will have $1 tans, 40 percent off lotions and package specials, and people can enter a drawing for free summer classes at the Emporia Arts Council.
