The USD 253 Board of Education will not ask for more taxpayer money in the 2011-12 school year.
The board heard details about the 2011-12 budget from Rob Scheib, assistant superintendent of business, during a budget workshop on Wednesday night.
The tax rate will remain at 53.225 mills, the same as it was last year. For the coming school year the mill levy will bring in $8,445,376, a decrease from the same mill levy last year, which brought in $8,509,290.
The board unanimously voted to publish the budget, which is a step in the process of getting the final budget approved.

reddog,
That particular site, is the best site you have put up of all the sites you have posted. Good info, that a person can sink their teeth into and make them think about the way our city leaders are doing things. Perhaps our City Leaders need to go to Garden City and learn some lessons. And Garden City is about the same size as Emporia .

Thats, O.K. Steve, I just had a hunch, that the school board members were/are keeping track of these forums and the City Commission meetings and taking notes as well.
However, they could still change their minds as well . Another " Nostradamus " , I am not, nor claim to be.

You are right nothing is set until it's set.
I do not think it was we complainers that did it.
However I think maybe all the taxing entities do time their funding increases with each other. Next year it will be the school boards time.
