A grant obtained through the Olpe Fire Department will help replace pagers and radios for Lyon County firefighters.
Rick Frevert, director of Lyon County Emergency Management, and Bob Miller, Olpe fire chief, discussed a grant obtained to replace pagers and radios for firefighters in the county during Thursday’s Lyon County Commission action session.
Miller sponsored the grant, which comes with a 5 percent match. Pagers and radios have been ordered from Stutler Technologies and the next phase of the project will be repeaters for their own frequencies. The total award for the grant was $87,100.

Commissioners passed the consent agenda as follows:
Warrants payable in the amount of $207,342.69.
Minutes of the July 7, 2011, meeting.
Approved the quote from CHEM-TROL of Wichita for 180 gallons of Pathway in 2 1/2 gallon containers for $5,760.
Approve the purchase of a H-1020 semi-automatic stretch wrap machine and one H-1071 ramp in the amount of $6, 692. Both will be used when securing pallets of E-waste prior to shipment.
In other matters:
Commissioners approved a resolution transferring funds from a Bond and Interest Fund to the General Fund in the amount of $15,167.
Commissioners signed contracts for site improvements on the Bowyer Community Building project. This is the county’s share of the lighting, excavation, parking and landscaping.
Commissioners approved county employees participating in this year’s Corporate Challenge.
Commissioners approved using Foulston Siefkin LLP for professional services.
