Fire department gets grant

Friday, July 15, 2011

A grant obtained through the Olpe Fire Department will help replace pagers and radios for Lyon County firefighters.

Rick Frevert, director of Lyon County Emergency Management, and Bob Miller, Olpe fire chief, discussed a grant obtained to replace pagers and radios for firefighters in the county during Thursday’s Lyon County Commission action session.

Miller sponsored the grant, which comes with a 5 percent match. Pagers and radios have been ordered from Stutler Technologies and the next phase of the project will be repeaters for their own frequencies. The total award for the grant was $87,100.
