I'll be needing someone to clear my driveway, Linda is getting tired of doing it.

Poor Linda. But with the 8-12 inch totals predicted, you'd better get a tractor.

Well, if we get 8-12 inches of snow and someone wants or is crazy enough to get out and walk the side walks, they can also shovel my walk, as they walk !!!

Is the City salting the streets yet ??
And how long will it be before they clear the streets of 8-12 inches of snow and which streets will get cleared and where ???

Good day for stew or chili or homemade soup. If you have to work today, bless you. Hope you put something in the slow cooker. Nothing like those warm smells to welcome you home.

Let's hope Emporia schools will close Tues. and Wed. They often like to stay open when other districts close.

I see our new Superintendent doesn't think it necessary to keep our kids safe and close school due to the ice and how bad it will get as the day goes on. Let's see how transparent she is in her decision to put our kids at risk? That's the problem when you hire from within, same old practices. I'm sure we will dismiss early, which if we do. . . look at the waste of money today. Spend money to get kids to and from school, pay for hourly employees, etc. when keeping them at home would have save money. That's ok though, she already said the mac laptops at TPLC will be replaced by what's cheapest. . . Microsoft that we will replace every year or two when the macs last easily for 5 years or more and are designed for education. I doubt this or any other posts will elicit a "transparent" response from her

How does the replacement of computer equipment at the school relate to a winter storm warning?

EmergencyEssentials (anonymous) says...

Preparation is one of the most important tools you have in any type of an emergency or disaster, including a winter storm. Emergency Essentials offers several online Insight Articles (http://beprepared.com/article.asp?ai=...) that address natural disaster preparedness and will help you to weather the storm. We also offer a variety of emergency preparedness supplies to aid you and your family during these winter months. In fact, we have been “Helping People Prepare” for over 23 years (http://beprepared.com/default.asp?sid...).

regarding school's not closing with inclement weather.... jblecha.... have you stopped to think about how many kids, when they are home during an unscheduled day off from school, are there ALONE? To me... they are safer AT SCHOOL. Most of the jobs that families have, in Emporia, are not of the kind that you can just call off because your kids are home from school without warning. At least while they are in school - they are being actively attended to, eat a balanced meal and are not out running around in the inclement weather - with the chance of being hit or run over by all the HORRIBLE drivers that come out when the weather is bad. Parents can make the choice not to send their kids to school - but I say leave the option for a safe place for the others while their parents are at work.
