Hartford 48,Yates Center 32
The Hartford girls basketball team traveled to Yates Center Friday night and emerged victorious with a 48-32 win. The Jaguars led early and were able to assert themselves behind a balanced offense.
“I thought we were able to work out a lot of our plays and we had pretty balanced scoring,” said coach Yvonne Gardner. “Overall we played three good quarters of basketball out of four.”
Ashley Preeo led Hartford with 14 points and Bronte’ Bailey scored 13. The Jaguars will look to continue their success when they face off in the Lyon County Tournament next week at White Auditorium.

The Madison Bulldogs fell short Friday night as they took on Eureka. After falling behind early in the first quarter, the Bulldogs were never able to fully recover and lost the game 39-32.
Tyler Farthing led Madison with 12 points followed by Shelby Melton who scored eight. The Bulldogs next play in the Lyon County League Tournament next week as they look to bounce back from the loss.

Council Grove 37,Mission Valley 13
Council Grove took care of business Friday as it faced off against Mission Valley in the Flint Hills Shoot Out.
After shutting out Mission Valley in the first quarter, the Lady Braves rolled to a 37-13 victory behind Kate Hula’s 16 points.
The Lady Braves will play today at noon against the winner of Herington and West Franklin for fifth place at White Auditorium.

The Wolves jumped out early and controlled Friday night’s game against Cair Paravel behind 10 points from Ivy Ables. Lebo led by eight points after the first half and went on to win the game by 13.
“I thought our girls responded really well,” said coach Luke Matile. “At halftime I challenged them to come out with more intensity than the second quarter. I was really proud of our girls tonight. It was a good game for us.”
The Wolves had balanced scoring throughout. Jenny Hodges scored nine points as Jessica Robertson and Halley Scott had six apiece.
Lebo will gear up for the Lyon County League Tournament next week at White Auditorium.

Mission Valley 39, Chase County 30
The Chase County Bulldogs fell to Mission Valley Friday by nine points after a sluggish start. The Bulldogs opened up the game with just three points in the first quarter, down 14. However, the second quarter saw Chase County hold Mission Valley scoreless as it scored 10 of its own.
Down just four at half, the Bulldogs were up one going into the fourth until they were outscored by 10 to lose 39 to 30. For Chase County, Garrett Osgood led the team with eight points.
The Bulldogs will play West Franklin in today’s seventh-place game at 10:30 a.m. at White Auditorium.

The Madison boys basketball team held on for a nine point win Friday evening against Eureka.
The Bulldogs led early which helped them out in the second half as Eureka outscored them 27 to 26 in the second.
The Bulldogs were led by Kole Schankie who had 17 points on the evening. Madison out shot Eureka from the line as Eureka was only able to hit four of their 13 attempts.
Madison will look to continue its success in the Lyon County League Tournament at White Auditorium next week.
