An 11-point game headed into the fourth quarter ended in a Lebo victory Friday evening in Lebo. The Wolves controlled the game for the first three quarters to earn the eight-point victory behind Jessica Robertson’s 15 points. Ivy Ables also scored in double figures with 10 points for the Wolves. For Hartford, Ashley Preeo led the way with 13 points followed by Mikayla Wilson with 11.

Council Grove 46, Herington 30
The Lady Braves of Council Grove won their meeting Friday night against Herington. After trailing early in the first quarter, the Lady Braves bounced back to 31-12 run and defeat Herington by 12 points.
“We played really well,” said Council Grove coach Jim Collins. “I’m happy going into the Flint Hills tournament. It was a good night for us.”
The Lady Braves were led by Shelby Morgan who had 14 points on the evening. Kate Hula added 10 points, and Jordan Jimerson scored eight. The Lady Braves will play next in the Flint Hills Shoot Out at White Auditorium.

Cassidy Barnard scored 14 in a losing effort Friday night during Madison’s game against Waverly. The Bulldogs were down seven at the half and were able to cut the deficit to two before losing the game 41-35.
“(Waverly) had very balanced scoring,” said head coach Crystal Ecton. “For us our passing was very poor, and I just didn’t feel like we played very well at all.”
The Bulldogs were unable to match Waverly’s balanced scoring. Shelby Melton scored eight points for Madison and Tyler Farthing scored five. The Bulldogs’ next game will come against Eureka in Madison on Jan. 21.

The Olpe Eagles had three players in double figures in their 51-point victory Friday evening at Marais des Cygnes Valley. After leading by 23 in the first quarter, the teams split the second only to see Olpe win the last two by 28.
“I thought again that we played a lot of kids,” said head coach Jesse Nelson. “I thought that with the exception of the group that I had out in the second quater that we played awful well defensively. Janae Haag played an outstanding game overall. (She) played great defense.”
For the Eagles, Kendyl McDougald scored 17, Jill Cole had 12 and Kathryn Flott had 24.

Kristin Stephens put up 16 points and Southern Coffey County won handily Friday evening at Flinthills. The Lady Titans led by 24 at the break and continued to control the second as they went on the win the game 52-14.
“(The) girls played well tonight,” said coach Jeff True. “(They) did a better job of moving the ball on offense and recognizing where to attack the defense.”
Ashton Isch helped out with nine points, and Ashley Johnson and Sarah Webb scored seven a piece. The Lady Titans travel to Burlingame on Tuesday to make up their canceled snow game from last week.

Thadd Barker had a big game Friday evening as Lebo defeated Hartford 63-42. Barker scored a game-high 23 points on the night to lead the Wolves to victory. Lebo jumped out of the game and led by 11 after the first quarter. The Wolves took an 11-point lead into the fourth quarter before opening up the score in the fourth.
The Jaguars were led by Mike Wilson with 12 points. Colten Barrett had 11 and Chris Schwinghamer had nine for Hartford. The Wolves had two more players score in double figures as Trevor White had 12 and Alex Linsey had 10.

After a sluggish first half, the Olpe boys basktball team defeated Marais des Cygnes Valley Friday night.
“It wasn’t the prettiest game,” said Olpe coach Chris Schmidt. “Both teams struggled putting the ball in the hole. We were better offensviley in the second half. I thought we attacked better. Defensively we did a pretty good job (and) didn’t let them get in to anything.”
Olpe led by just five points at the break before opening up the lead in the second. For the Eagles, Glen Haag had a game-high 15 points on the evening. Austin Bass followed with eight points of his own.

The Titans won a close game against Flinthills behind balanced scoring and good defense. Southern Coffey County was down one at halftime and entered the fourth quarter down one before winning the game down the stretch.
For the game, Southern Coffey County outrebounded the Mustangs by 11 and had 13 points off the bench. Travis Bryan scored seven points and Scott Fischer added six for the Titans.

Kole Schankie had 18 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Madison Bulldogs fell to Waverly by four points Friday evening. The teams went into the halftime break all tied up, and the Bulldogs took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Waverly still found a way to win the game, however, as it scored 21 in the fourth to win the game. Tyler Williams scored 11 points and Tanner Bybee scored eight for Madison.
