The USD 252 is starting two hours late on Thursday.
The USD 251 school board meeting for Thursday has been canceled. There is no new date at this time.
The Local Food Film Festival for Tuesday night has been combined with Thursday's event.
Flint Hills Lanes will be closed until noon Wednesday, All Tuesday Leagues are canceled.

I see our new Superintendent doesn't think it necessary to keep our kids safe and close school due to the ice and how bad it will get as the day goes on. Let's see how transparent she is in her decision to put our kids at risk? That's the problem when you hire from within, same old practices. I'm sure we will dismiss early, which if we do. . . look at the waste of money today. Spend money to get kids to and from school, pay for hourly employees, etc. when keeping them at home would have save money. That's ok though, she already said the mac laptops at TPLC will be replaced by what's cheapest. . . Microsoft that we will replace every year or two when the macs last easily for 5 years or more and are designed for education. I doubt this or any other posts will elicit a "transparent" response from her.

Tuesday's Local Food Film Festival movie "King Corn" will be postponed. Both it and the regularly scheduled sequel, "Big River" will be shown on Thursday, beginning at 6:00, at FHTC. (Running time for King Corn is 50 minutes; Big River is 30 minutes).

abundant harvest::::: i was told monday by lcat they cancled diner until wensday so far, though lcat did not give reason why they simply told me they were informed of this.

Come on folks I know that we are all upset with the stuff going on in the city. But really let's give the new superintendent of USD 253 a little bit of slack. Let's at least let her get her feet wet first. ALso I think there's a team that makes this call, about closing the schools not just her even though she has the final call. In closing all I want to say is GOOD LUCK.

That's what I wondered TexasGirl, and from what I've heard he home schools his kid so wouldn't matter whether the buses ran or not. Not sure how one can condem the new superintendent based on one day of bad weather...................
