We are in the final hours until Christmas and everyone from Santa to parents are checking their lists, making sure the presents are wrapped, ingredients are ready for meals and waiting for the arrival of family and friends.
In the hustle and bustle of the season we want to give a reminder to not overlook tipping your newspaper carrier.
For more than 115 years, carriers have delivered newspapers to area doorsteps and every year carriers have looked forward to the tips.
In rain, sleet and snow, carriers make their best efforts to get the papers to the doorstep which, in Kansas weather, at times can be difficult.
Our motor carriers who deliver to rural subscribers deserve a standing ovation. They battle the country roads, flat tires and drive hundreds of miles every day. Each year, Gazette motor route carriers drive just under 500,000 miles.
We thank our carriers and, if you get good service, we hope you will also thank them with a tip. It will be appreciated.
Merry Christmas.
