With the game tied at 48-all and time running down, the Madison Bulldogs opted to go for the last shot. But when that shot didn’t go in, Tanner Bybee’s offensive rebound gave the Bulldogs another crack at it.
Bybee took care of the job himself and scored on a putback with three seconds left to give Madison a 50-48 win over White City Thursday at the Lebo Tournament.
“I was really pleased with our defensive intensity,” Madison coach Lancy Tally said. “We knew it was going to be a first game kind of night with football going so late. But I was really pleased with the way they played on defense. They were hustling out there.”
Tyler Williams scored 26 and Bybee added 16.

GIRLS
Lebo 48, Hartford 41
The Lebo Wolves held off a Hartford rally in the second half to earn new coach Duane Colwell’s first victory at Lebo.
“It feels really good,” Colwell said. “I expected to win tonight. I expect to win all of my games, but we know that’s not going to happen.”
The Wolves led 25-13 at the break, but the Jaguars’ offense came to life and answered with 28 points in the second half.
Jenny Hodges scored 19 and Halley Scott added 10 for the Wolves.
“The girls just executed down the stretch,” Colwell said. “We didn’t execute well in the second half, but the last minute and a half we executed very well. For our first game of the year we did a lot of things right and a lot of things not so right. But for the most it was a good win for us.”
Mikayla Wilson led Hartford with 15 points and Bronte’ Bailey added 10. Lebo will play Madison tonight at 7 p.m. and Hartford will play White City at 5:30 p.m.
