Lohmann selected for All-Regional team
Emporia State junior defensive back Derek Lohmann has been named to the Daktronics Second-Team All-Super Region-4 by a vote of the regions sports information directors.
Lohmann led the MIAA and was second in the nation in interceptions with eight this season. His 14 picks in three years ties the ESU career record set by Kelly Nusser from 1980-83. He earned second team All-MIAA as a sophomore.
The team, which is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems, is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Midwestern State quarterback Brandon Kelsey was named offensive player of the year. Defensive lineman Aston Whiteside of Abilene Christian was selected a defensive player of the year.
