A project that has been in the making for three years will get started later this month.
Hetlinger Developmental Services, Inc., will break ground on its expansion project at 11 a.m. Aug. 12.
More than $2 million was raised from more than 200 donors for the project.
Brandy Nance, marketing coordinator for Hetlinger, said the expansion project will allow for 25 percent more clients. It will also expand the workshop that clients work in.
Currently Hetlinger serves 85 clients.
Nance said the economy can be attributed to the lengthy process of raising funds for the project.
“We serve people with developmental disabilities. Through this project we’ll be able to serve more,” Nance said.
Right now Hetlinger has a waiting list for clients. The expansion project will be able to reduce that waiting list, Nance said.
Due to inflation, Hetlinger is still needing about $200,000 more to complete the project. To donate, contact Trudy Hutchinson at 342-1087 or e-mail her at thutchinson@hetlinger.org.
Let’s show Hetlinger that the community cares. Be at its groundbreaking at 11 a.m. Aug. 12 and contribute funds to help the organization achieve its goal.
