A relatively new system that allows parents to receive notification about their child or their child’s school was discussed during Wednesday night’s Emporia USD 253 Board of Education meeting.
Nancy Horst, director of community relations, walked the board through the process of posting a message that can be sent out to parents regarding their children.
Horst said the system, called School Messenger, can be used to notify parents if their child has an unexcused absence from school, and can also be used to let parents know about school cancellations or as a reminder about an upcoming activity.
The system, which has been in use since May, will also be used in emergency situations that could affect the safety, health or well-being of students or staff members.

So, how does one access School Messenger? Can you provide us with a few more details?
