Supporting Mast

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Rep. Peggy Mast demonstrates in word and deed her steadfast commitment to be a legislator who will consider the needs of all citizens of Kansas.

During the Oct. 18 KVOE forum Peggy knowledgeably articulated the complex challenges legislators have and will continue to grapple with to best address the needs of the multiple important interest groups within the state. Please refer to her Dec. 8, 2009, article in the Emporia Gazette for additional evidence of her longstanding appreciation of this delicate interrelationship of the groups competing for state dollars.

One only needed to listen to her opponent’s statements during the forum or read her campaign ads to know that her single focus to support schools is tantamount to representing one special interest group ( keeping in mind our students rank only 26th academically internationally ). Perhaps we aren’t even asking the right question — just throwing money at an undefined problem. and her discussion of the related taxation issues indicates she may not care if she breaks the back of businesses in the process. Reminds me of a self centered teen unwilling to postpone a coveted purchase even in the face of an expensive critical medical expense in the family.

The Kansas budget is in critical shape folks and we’re all going to have to do a bit of belt tightening to save our state. We desperately need to send legislators to Topeka with the maturity and foresight to look at the big picture plus the political will to make the tough yet responsible decisions. Peggy’s record demonstrates just that! Peggy has and will weigh the needs of our veterans, seniors, persons with disabilities, businesses, law enforcement as well as the others including public school students and balance the budget in the process.

Vote Peggy Mast.

But she is an incumbent, who has been there to long.

Besides that she does not agree with wind power as an viable energy source, for the most windy state in the union, or nearly so.

This letter would be a little more credible if it was at least written by someone in her district. Heskett lives in Don Hill's district. And I'm pretty sure Don told her wingnut group to take a long walk off a short pier.
Peggy's trained followers must be thinning in her district. Maybe they think schools are more important than Pay Day Loan businesses that have given thousands in recent years to peggy.

Blue_Dog, I agree that someone in the 76th District, who could actually vote for her on Tuesday, would have been a more credible source to endorse Peggy Mast. There are lots of people unhappy with the 14 years of "NO" and nothing tangible from Rep. Mast. At least Susan Fowler will work with everyone and try to advance some progressive ideas for this district. She has some good ideas about economic recovery, health care, and energy-- in addition to education-- and she is campaigning on what she WILL do rather than what she WON'T do-- as Mast is doing. I only wish people would give her a chance to show how things can get done for the 76th District!

It often depends upon the last person who has spoken to Rep Mast on how she makes her decision. Facts often get lost in the process. Not effective leadership or representation.

Do you ever vote a democratic ticket even when you are not mad from the waist down....? Then you conservatives rip the "liberals" for being tunnel-visioned. Even I will be voting for one Republican tomorrow. I'll let you guess which one.

Here's a hint though. It wont be Brownquack (misspelling intentional) or Huelskamp.

Hey, Viola .... Was Jerry Karr at any of them there forums? I've been trying and trying to find out what party he belongs to, but it's just not in any of his ads.

Anyways, if Jerry was at a forum, I thought maybe he told the people there what party he belonged to, and why his ads don't ever say it. It's almost as if he is ashamed of the party he belongs to ... whatever party that is.

Garwsh!

I would love to be able to answer your persistent question. My problem is I don't care enough about what party he belongs to to invest any effort into finding out. Who cares....Vote for the person.....not the party.

Once you get into the voting booth (if you haven't already been), you will see the big "D" after his name so those that are so inclined to vote only for who their party tells them to can adjust their vote accordingly. Leaving it off the campaign literature was a statement of the principle I expressed above.

Of course you already knew that and are just pushing you own agenda with your bogus curiosity.

You know a part of me wants to just keep this up with you all night if necessary But another part tells me that to do so I would make myself look as foolish as snow looks and I damned sure wouldn't want to do that. So you just continue making a fool of yourself and proving to everybody that you have nothing of value to contribute and I will just watch you from the sidelines.

So go ahead and keep making yourself look like a childish little kid trying to get attention.

I got to thinking. Campaigns are about the only time Democrats are able to create private sector jobs with their policies. That's got to be a good feeling for them. :)

Private sector....Public sector....what's the diff. The income generated from both contribute to the economy by injecting spending money into it.....and taxes to run the country are paid by both.

You sound like Public Sector Job is some kind of dirty word, but I bet you want to keep the military......all public sector employment. I would imagine you are also in favor of the Department of Homeland Security......maybe FAA flight controllers, Border Patrol Agents, etc......also all public sector jobs.

So the only public sector jobs you are really opposed to are the ones dealing with health, education, and welfare...the ones that deal with people less well equipped to succeed than you are....Those ones you in turn claim you are trying to help pull out of their poverty with your fend for yourself policies..

REWBA (anonymous) says...

If you want the private sector to create jobs, one of two things have to happen. Either a demand for a product has got to increase or the government must pass a law.

An example of this could be full service gas stations. Currently, there is a small demand out there for having an attendant fill your tank, check the tires, belts and fluid levels and wash the windshield. As a result, the private sector creates a few jobs to meet this demand. If the demand increased, the private sector would create more full service gas stations and hire more service station attendants. Now, if the government passed a law prohibiting self serve gas and required that gas be pumped by a trained professional, The private sector would be forced to comply and hundreds of thousands of people who were previously unemployable would now have a job. Would the price go up? Yes, but the social cost of caring for unemployed booger eaters would decrease.

The next time you start to say that the government can't create jobs just think of that example and shut up.

Public sector job are generally "make work", like your example. They don't create any new value.

For our economy to recover (in addition to dealing with China's overwhelming abuse of the world economic system), we are going to have to make stuff and sell it to people.

Meat inspectors in food processing plants are public sector jobs that exist because of government regulations. They and the jobs I mentioned in my earlier post may not create any new value but that hardly makes them unnecessary.

How many deaths occur on America's highways as a result of bad tires, inoperative lights, and other serious vehicular deficiencies? People are allowed to drive up to any self serve gas pump and refill the tank on a car or truck that should have been repaired twenty tankfuls ago. Some people refuse to fix their piece of $#!+ until it just quits. That places innocent Americans in grave danger when a rusted out muffler finally falls off at 70 mph and bounces into oncoming traffic.

A law to require trained service station attendants will create jobs, protect the environment, save millions of barrels of foreign oil from being wasted and save lives.

I figured some thoughtless generation X type would see no value in intelligence. Freaks is what I call people who vote against their own interests. Everyone else call them Republicans.

How many illnesses occur in America's homes and schools as a result of fecal bacteria and other serious restroom-related deficiencies? People are allowed to walk up to any porcelain throne and take care of business that should have been dealt with hours ago. Some people refuse to quit eating burritos or stewed beets. They reach around behind, but the behind has gotten too broad to properly reach around, and they just quit. That places innocent Americans in grave danger when a skid-marked hand grabs the restroom door and bounces into the unwary human traffic beyond.

A law to require trained restroom attendants will create jobs, protect the health and environment, and save millions of pairs of unmentionables from being wasted and save lives.

It is time that the Government assured that each of us is properly wiped and sanitized after we do our duty. A bold new idea is in the wind (but don't worry, the restroom attendant will spray it).

It's time to wipe-out untidiness in the privy with a Gub'munt Wiper Corps!

Peggy Mast gets my vote. School spending has to be gotten under control. The excessive costs are not coming from spending in the classroom. Poorly administered school district budgets have so often carelessly spent money almost everywhere except for the classroom. Almost all other tax-supported entities also received budget cuts, it was not just the schools.

REWBA (anonymous) says...

sail: I never said anything about a perfect world. I was talking about the real world. The one we live in. Who pays the bill you ask. The people who work in the service station attendant uniform factory of course. Oh and the people who provide service station attendant training certification and annual refresher training have to pay a bill too. Not to mention the bar that service station attendants go to after they get off work. And instead of taxpayers paying booger eaters to sit on their butts while they draw unemployment benefits, the booger eater can help pay the bill too. Of course they might deny gasoline to the motorist who wouldn't let a little thing like not having breaks stop him from driving over to the school to pick up his child. But then again, the guy who makes replacement brakes would have to pay some of the bill and the gal who installs replacement brake pads would pay a portion too. Heck, even the guy who sold the booger eater that juicy taco that caused that greasy stain on the service station attendant's shirt would have to help pay the bill. The rest of the bill could be sent to the cleaners. :-)

Again I agree but that doesn't mean there is no value or merit to Public Sector jobs. I am sure you agree with that in regard to the military and Border Patrol....it's just when the attention turns to those pesky poor people that most conservatives have a problem.

And excuse me......but wasn't it the corporations that you are depending on to create jobs and get us out of this mess that sent the jobs making things we used to make off-shore in the first place? Why yes biscuitboy....I believe you are right about that!!!!!
