An Americus man is in a Topeka hospital after an early-morning one-vehicle accident.
According to a press release from Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeff Briggs, a vehicle accident was discovered by a sheriff’s patrol deputy east of Americus on Road 240 between Roads J and J5.
The driver of a 1995 Eagle Vision, Danny Calvey, 48, of Americus, was out of the vehicle and walking to the roadside. He had been traveling eastbound on Road 240 when the vehicle left the roadway. Briggs said Calvey was complaining of lower leg pain.
Calvey was taken to Newman Regional Health and later transferred to Stormont-Vail in Topeka. No information is available about his condition.
Check back for more information as it becomes available.

Funny how he was treated and released. He is at Stormont Vail and just got out of surgery and possibly needing another.

lovely, lovely hospital we have here. His leg is shattered and is needing more surgery. I think it's something that this hospital, with all it"s technology couldn't tell that.

Where does it say he was treated and released? Sounds like he was treated and transferred.

OK Chevy_Guy, I'll accept that. But in breaking news it is just that. The situation is fluid and subject to change. The latest release is always the more accurate one.

You know, you could be taken to our e.r. and stabilized, then request to be released and drive yourself, or a friend drive you to another hospital for further treatment.
If not a life threatening injury, you would save the cost of an ambulance transfer out of town.
