Jeff Cope nominated to replace Sheriff Gary Eichorn

Lyon County Republican committeemen and committeewomen in a convention tonight nominated Jeff Cope to complete the term that will be left by Sheriff Gary Eichorn.

Eichorn recently announced his retirement. Eichorn plans to retire Nov. 30 with two years left on his term.

The nomination of Cope will be forwarded to Gov. Mark Parkinson for approval. The soonest Cope will take office will be Dec. 1.
