- D.J. Bronson, the Northern Heights High School quarterback who leads the state in passing yards.
- Cassondra Boston, the former Lady Hornet who attended the NCAA Woman of the Year awards banquet in Indianapolis.
- Chief Judge Merlin Wheeler of the Fifth Judicial District. He will sit with the Kansas Supreme Court on Oct. 28 to hear arguments. Wheeler is a finalist for an opening on the high court.
- Organizers of the Don-Your-Door Wreath Extravaganza, a fundraiser for the Newman Regional Health Foundation. The decorated wreaths will be given away at 6 p.m. Nov. 4.
- Emporia Master Gardeners, who worked hard to shape up the demonstration garden at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
- Jeff and Shelly Lutes, who started a support group for other families affected by Down Syndrome.
- The Olpe High School volleyball team, which won the Lyon County League title.

- Jorge Escobar of Emporia and Alex DeLong of Admire, students at Bethany College whose artwork is on display in a Lindsborg gallery.
- The Northern Heights girls cross country team, which won the Flint Hills League title. The boys team finished third.
