Supports Longbine

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Several years ago, I retired from a large animal nutrition company and am now a small business owner with a livestock feed operation. It has been my pleasure to know Jeff Longbine and his family for more than 30 years. In my opinion, he is one of the best businessmen in the Emporia area.

Jeff Longbine understands the ag business, and as the owner of Longbine Auto Plaza, Jeff has been very responsive to the needs of the ag community. He is an advocate for ag producers in and around the 17th District. I am confident we will be able to count on Jeff Longbine to represent farmers, ranchers, and all of us involved in agri-business very well in the Kansas Senate.

Jeff really lives up to his campaign slogan, “doing business the right way.” Let’s get Jeff Longbine elected to the Kansas Senate this fall!

I haven't heard whether Jeff Longbine is Anti-Woman or not. I certainly hope Jeff is ready for the Onslaught Against Women that our New Governor Brownback is going to lead. Brownback is going to bring in Phil Kline to pick up where he left off.
Brownback wants brutally raped women to bear the child of the Rapist. Brownback favors Brutal Rapists over Women--your Wife, Your Daughter, Your Mother, Your Grandmother, Your Aunt. Women's Rights are going to take Big Hits in Gov Brownback's Administration, and the Republican Senate and House will eagerly support, lead Brownback's Charge. I hope Jeff Longbine is ready for the great pressure he will be under. Republicans/Conservatives...have always been against Women, treating them only as property!

Oh please, Lazer...being anti-murder does not make someone anti-women. That sorry old argument just doesn't hold water anymore. Watch a video of an abortion all the way through and then talk about being for or against women!!
The tide is turning....more people are waking up to the fact that science now clearly shows it's 'life' in the womb that is being snuffed out- not just a conveniently termed 'fetus' or 'embryo'. Abortion is NOT pro-choice or pro-women - anyway you choose to spin it, it's pro-murder.

LAZER, how many babies are aborted due to rape? How many are aborted due to risk to the life of the mother? How many are aborted because the mother simply doesn't want a baby?

bicuitboy, you were planning on voting for Brownback prior to hearing that? Things that make you go...........WTF?

Of course I wasn't planning on voting for Brownback before hearing that. That's just one more reason.

Let's see, how should I put this. Okay, here goes. From what I've heard LAZER has no need to worry. If Longbine is vetted properly I think eveyone will agree that he definitely does not hate women.

Abortion is NOT Murder. Abortion is Women Controlling their own Bodies.
Conservatives talk a good game, but, when it comes to Abortion and other Personal Decisions, Conservatives WANT State to run them!
Why does anyone want, demand, that a Woman Brutally Raped, left for dead...that the Woman have that Baby! What ought to happen is that your wife or daughter...be forced into that decision...if they were brutally raped! That is the State forcing you to have a Baby against your wishes. I thought you conservatives were against the State telling you what to do.
And, I don't care if it is a small per centage of Abortions. What if you were that 1 of 100.
Also, George Bush decided to kill thousands of Americans...when he started the War against Iraq, for no good reason. Chicken George never went to War. Most War-Hawk Republicans never served their country! They are Chicken.
Also...PLEASE, PROVE THERE IS A GOD. I want Proof. Prove it.

genxer (anonymous) says...

LAZER,

I'm not aware of any politician that has come out against abortion for women who have been brutally raped, although it wouldn't surprise me if Brownback has, he is pretty far to the right in his social views. I'd have to see where he said it to believe it though. You repeating it over and over does not make it true.

Also, please leave God out of the abortion issue. For many people he has no place in it. For many it is a moral issue. How would you feel if someone came up to you and ripped you apart with some sort of power tool or took a spike and drove it through the top of your skull? I doubt you'd appreciate it very much. If there was nobody there to protest your death would that make it okay to kill you?

That is basically what happens with abortion and late term abortion. And just because the mother or father are not protesting the death, that does not make it right.

Personally, I believe that if the mothers life is not at risk, and I mean really at risk, then abortion should be illegal after the first trimester. That should give all of these supposed rape victims plenty of time to terminate the pregnancy. Also, there should be a limit on the number of abortions that a woman can have, unless she's somehow getting raped and impregnated repeatedly, which I highly doubt or unless her life is in danger which is a more likely scenario, but still pretty rare.

Could you get behind that middle ground or something similar or are you always for the murder of inoccent babies? Regardless of whether the woman is a rape victim or not?

No matter who wins this race,

Karr or Longbine

I am sure they will be able to work with governor Holland in solving the problems of High taxes, high unemployment, and the loss of jobs that Kansas is facing.

Actually, several politicians have said that they do not support abortion in cases of rape: former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, U.S. Senate candidate Ken Buck of Colorado, and U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell of Delaware. There may be more, but three seemed enough for me to stop looking. Palin noted that she could support abortion to save the life of the mother.

The KDHE website's latest abortion figures appear to be from 2008, so I've used the KBI 2008 figures for comparisons:

Total abortions in Kansas in 2008 was more than 10,600, with a breakdown of 5,512 Kansas residents shown as having had abortions and 5,130 non-Kansas residents having had abortions in Kansas, if I read the stats correctly.

KBI showed a total of 1,159 rapes reported that same year.

I agree Steve. This is indeed a rare occasion where there are two good men involved. I could support either one....I could vote for either one....and which ever one wins , I am sure will work fine with Governor Holland for the good of the state.

It might surprise you to know we are not as far apart on the abortion issue as you might think. Women should have the right to choice during the first trimester. And that includes the right to abortion as birth control as personally repugnant as I find that act to be.

After that I think the availability of abortions should be severely restricted to avoiding severe risk to the life of the mother....or to rape and incest cases where the mother was pressured against. or denied access to, abortion by outside influences during the first trimester.

I disagree with your assessment of abortion not being a religious issue however. I think that the great majority of people who oppose it do so on religious grounds. There is nothing wrong with that per se, but to claim so openly would make it harder to make their case in court. Therefore they claim it isn't. Just another one of those little games we all have to play at times.

bmylnar,

Good fact finding.

In your figuring did you account for the number of under/ non reporting of rape case?

According to various web sites, non- reporting of rape occurs anywhere from 30 -69 %. Most studies indicate a very high rate of non- reported rape cases.

Just saying that some of those abortions in Kansas could have resulted from rape or incest that was not reported.

The greatest answer re: abortion that I've ever heard came from Ron Paul.

"I've delivered over 4,000 babies, so personally I am obviously against abortion, but according to the Constitution, that issue should rest with the state government alone."

It is my understanding that women can now get, over the counter, a pill called "Plan B". This pill would be dispensed by the ER in the case of a rape. I am not very medically versed, but I would think that with this pill, abortion would no longer be necessary. JMO

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez! I have never advocated a Democrat for anything; however, in this case the Democrat is a far better choice over a self-serving, what can I get out of it option. Somebody that only truly loves himself. As for such a super businessman, if I could have had a big business dropped in my lap, how things would be different.

Bobbi,

Thanks for the facts. Is there one for how many of those rapes resulted in pregnancy? My guess is not very many. Also, why were non-Kansans coming to Kansas for an abortion? I know the answer, but it never hurts for people to hear it.

BB, I can assure you that my reasons for being against abortion have nothing to do with religion. I think the one thing that should be stopped immediately are partial birth abortions. That is a very sick practice and there is NO place for it in civilized society.

As far as these candidates go, I've stated this before but, if Karr and Holland don't have enough common sense to not put a "D" next to their names that raises a major RED flag for me. Although I did notice at least on Karr's direct mail piece that it was only printed in tiny print at the bottom. Smart move.

Of course I was not presuming to speak for you and whether or not your opposition to abortion was religious based....I was only speaking in generalities. And it doesn't really make any difference what any-body's support or opposition to anything is based on as long as it is sincere.

I did have to laugh at your assumptions about those that put the "D" behind their name....Why?....because I feel very much the same way about those that place the "R" behind theirs. And that probably doesn't speak very well for either one of us.
