An Americus mother died Thursday night after her vehicle went off the road on the S-curve of Americus Road.
The accident occurred at 8:25 p.m. Thursday. Kimberly Schneider was driving south in a 2004 Mazda. The car went off the road just north of the start of the S-curve and ended up in the triangle of grass created where Road 200 meets the Americus Road.
Schneider, 39, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident has the town of Americus and the Northern Heights High School reeling again, just weeks after losing three students in a traffic accident on the same road north of town.
Schneider was a Northern Heights graduate as was her son. Her youngest child is a sophomore there. Overnight, expressions of support and sympathy appeared on her daughter’s Facebook page.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident.
