The Emporia High cross country teams had a strong showing Saturday at the Topeka-Seaman Invitational. The girls placed ninth overall and the boys finished 10th.
Leading the way for the girls was Abigail Chiroy. She finished 21st overall with a time of 16:43. Katie Weiser finished 34th at 17:20, Cindy Meinholdt came in 25th at 17:21, Gaby McNeilly finished 53rd at 18:19 and Aysia Paige finished 54th at 18:19. Olathe East won the event.
In the boys race, Drew Detwiler crossed the finish line 14th with a time of 17:08. Miguel Alaniz finished 65th at 18:59, Jamie Garcia came in 68th at 19:20, Cody Dix finished 72nd at 19:27, Max Detwiler came in two spots later at 19:33 and Donny Tennal finished 81st overall with a time of 20:26. Lawrence won the boys team title.
