Americus United Methodist Church Dinner and undraiser
A lunch will be served at the Methodist Church, 413 Walnut, at noon, Sunday, November 21. The menu will have chili, vegetable soup and clam chowder along with drinks, relishes and desserts.
The proceeds from a free will offering will be used to benefit the students in North Lyon County.

Holiday lighted parade
The tenth Holiday Lighted Parade will be Saturday, December 4, 7:30 p.m. The theme is Winter Wonderland and line-up will be at the corner of Main and Walnut.
Entries will be judged on: 1. Best use of lights; 2. Best depiction of the parade theme; 3. Judges’ choice.
Entries for the parade may be made by calling (620) 443-5546 or by 7:00 p.m. before the parade. All entries must be lighted and all bicyclists must wear helmets.
Certificates will be presented to the winners.
Hank the Cow Dog will be presented at 8:00 p.m. in the USD #251 Meeting Room by the Readers Theatre players. There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome.
Home lighting display contest
The Home Lighting Display Contest will be judged at some point during the first three weeks in December. Displays will be judged on best contemporary display, best lawn scene, best traditional display, and best use of lights.
Certificates of recognition will be awarded to the winners and yard signs will be placed appropriately.
The events are sponsored by the Americus Chamber of Commerce.
