EHS to present ‘The Laramie Project’

Monday, November 8, 2010

Towards the end of ‘The Laramie Project,’ the characters come to a conclusion: They never understood the extent of how deep some people hate.

Emporia High School’s production of “The Laramie Project” will open on Saturday at 7 p.m. It will also be performed 2 p.m. Sunday at EHS. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The Laramie Project is a play by Moises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project about the reaction to the murder of Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming who was gay.

Director Grant Geis said he picked ‘The Laramie Project’ because Laramie, Wyo., and Emporia have a lot in common. Both towns have universities and are surrounded by farming and ranching.
