Emporia State University President Michael Lane withdrew his name from consideration for becoming the next president of Millikin University in Illinois.
"I just don't think it was a good match," Lane said.
He interviewed at Millikin on Thursday.
Lane said he is not actively looking for a job and is happy to be in Emporia. He said he plans to move forward with ESU's strategic plan and fund raising.

It might be a poor fit. On the other hand, Presidential search committees often allow candidates to request prior notification in the event that their application will be rejected. It gives them the opportunity to withdraw.

Rumor is that Lane wasn't the first choice for ESU and probably wasn't going to be for this job. He got to bail before he wasn't chosen. He'll be looking elsewhere soon, I'm sure. There are always bigger fish to fry and greener grass.
