A house fire in Neosho Rapids turned fatal for a 94-year-old woman who lived alone, according to information from the Lyon County Sheriff's office.
"The only resident of the home was 94 year old Vicie Mae Crawford who had lived there since 1961," a press release from the sheriff's office stated.
The fire call came in at 6:26 a.m. today for the house in Neosho Rapids.
"Prior to the arrival of the first fire units at 6:43 a.m., neighbors and officers tried to enter the residence but were pushed back by the intensity of the fire." the press release stated "The first officers on the scene observed the fire appeared to be centered in the kitchen area of the home."
