Kelsi DeLong ties for 6th

Kelsi DeLong of Olpe tied for sixth place Saturday afternoon during The Capital-Journal Regional Spelling Bee at Topeka.

Kelsi, an Olpe Junior High School student, took second at the Lyon County Spelling Bee and was one of three students scheduled to represent the county at the regional contest held last month in Admire.

Meg Detwiler of Emporia Middle School won the county contest and Sydney DeLong of Reading Elementary placed third in the county. Neither were listed in the top 10 at the regional, according to results from the Capital-Journal.

Chase Brown of Richmond placed first in the regional contest, followed by Isaac Ward of Lawrence and Tricia Schmitz of Axtell.
