A $5,000 bond has been set for a 19-year-old Flint Hills Technical College student accused of making a bomb threat at the school.
Alex P. Tunks-Jones, 214 East St., was arrested on a warrant signed by Chief District Judge Merlin Wheeler. The paperwork was filed shortly before 9 a.m. Friday in Lyon County District Court.
Tunks-Jones was in jail Friday afternoon, pending the setting of conditions for the bond.
According to an affidavit filed in the case by Emporia Police Officer Rob Shipley, police were called to the technical college after a report about a student who had threatened to bomb the school. It initially was believed he had left the school; however, authorities found he had returned to class.
