HARTFORD — Smoke in the ventilation system prompted an evacuation of Hartford Junior/Senior High School students Thursday morning. Hartford High School principal Curtis Simons said this morning that a fire alarm detected smoke that was coming out of the computer room ventilation system. A motor had burned up in the system in the ceiling, Simons said. When the fire alarms went off, students were evacuated to the community building across the street. They were out of class for about 45 minutes.
There was no damage to the building, Simons said.
“The smoke from the motor went into the ventilation system and it was blown into the heat duct,” he said. “Everything went smooth. It’s just one of those things that happens.”
