Pyle named CNO at Newman

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Newman Regional Health has a new chief nursing officer.

Julia Pyle, RN, MSN, will begin her new position July 5. She has worked as Newman’s clinical nurse specialist since September.

Pyle earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Pittsburg State University and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri Kansas City. She worked 18 years in intensive care and cardiac nursing at St. Luke’s in Kansas City, Mo. She served as the chief nursing officer at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington from 2007 to 2009 before coming to Newman.

She takes over from Lisa Walters, RN, MS, who has been interim CNO since March.

“I am excited about this new position and earning the trust of the nursing staff and the community as we work in partnership together to deliver the highest quality patient care,” Pyle said in a news release.

"Interm CNO since March"......whatever happened to the previous CNO? I don't remember hearing anything about her or her leaving NRH. Did I miss something?? Is NRH trying to keep something quiet??

No, gooseylucy, the previous CNO resigned and the story was published in the paper (at least the online version anyway). The story was very brief and to the point.

"The story was very brief and to the point." Yeah, it must have been. I didn't even see it. I still think they are trying to hide something.

Wasn't this the CNO that was going to really turn the hospital around? Something about the "Mayo of the Midwest"? She came in and got rid of all the long term LPN's and then just left?? Hmmm, sounds funny to me. I think there's more to this story.

Congrats, Julia! I have every confidence that your small-town background and your big-city hospital experience will bring the balance to our county hospital that we need. I also believe you will lead your nurses well by example in having a sweet disposition and caring attitude.
