Topeka Ear, Nose and Throat physicians are offering services in Emporia five days a week and soon will be permanently located in the building formerly occupied by Dr. Norman Fordyce, who retired, at the corner of 12th Avenue and Chestnut Street.
“Topeka Ear, Nose and Throat will utilize local contractors to renovate the building and begin seeing patients at the new location in August,” a press release from B.J. McCaskey, practice manager, stated.
During the renovations, staff will see patients at the current location at 2526 W. 15th Ave. The practice has been seeing patients since January.
“Local Emporia residents will staff the Emporia office as part of the physicians’ commitment to the community,” the release stated.
Topeka ENT’s practices focuses on otolaryngology, head and neck surgery.
“This includes providing adult and pediatric ENT care for disorders involving allergy, dizziness/vestibular problems, hearing aids, skin cancers and reconstruction, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, voice disorders and facial trauma reconstruction,” the press release stated.
Topeka ENT has six (soon to be seven) board certified otolaryngologists and also employs two speech pathologists with masters’ degrees, two doctors of audiology, an audiologist with a master’s degree and a hearing aid specialist with a bachelor’s degree.
“Dr. Michael Franklin, Dr. Douglas Barnes, Dr. Matthew Glyn, Dr. Scot Hirschi and Dr. Robert Lane are on the medical staffs of Newman Regional Health and both hospitals in Topeka allowing them access to multiple other specialties to help provide complete care when the need arises,” the release stated.
Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Walk-ins are accepted but appointments are preferred. To schedule an appointment, call 343-7234.

I called to make an appointment and she said they were only in Emporia on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That is something to keep in mind when needing an appointment.
