An intimate gathering at The Gun Den launched Jim Barnett’s Values Tour on Tuesday afternoon.
Barnett, currently a state senator, is one of six Republicans running for the Kansas 1st District U.S. Congressional seat being vacated by Jerry Moran. The winner of the Aug. 3 Republican primary will go on to the general election in November.
On Tuesday, Barnett was surrounded by longtime friends as he polished his campaign rhetoric.
“One of the things you need to look at is the values of the candidates running for Congress,” Barnett said.
To that end, he reminded the group that he was raised just 19 miles from Emporia on a farm near Reading.
“I have deep-rooted Kansas values combined with common sense and the ability to say ‘no.’”

It was nice seeing Senator here in Emporia. I like the pic of him except.......who ever was taking the pic should have checked his/her surrounding. The red purse in the background is very professional in my opinion.

He may have been raised near Reading Kansas, but his history of votes in the senate don't reflect it. His votes so far are against everything a true conservative would stand for. May have been a great doctor, but that does not translate into a good congressman.
