Support Barnett
Saturday, July 31, 2010
A farm boy who grew up in the Big First, a small business owner in the district, family physician, and a State Senator, Jim Barnett is the candidate I support for Congress because he personally knows our issues and shares our conservative, Kansas values.
Unlike Johnson County resident Tracey Mann who recently moved into the district to run for Congress or Tim Huelskamp who is supported by Washington special interest groups, Jim Barnett is a lifelong 1st district resident who is supported by Kansans.
A recent article showed that Barnett has raised 91 percent of his campaign contributions from Kansas, while Huelskamp has raised 31 percent of his funds from outside of Kansas. Tracey Mann has raised 35 percent from outside of Kansas with Rob Wasinger leading the pack at a staggering 72 percent of his funds coming from out-of-state! Jim Barnett will work for Kansans, not for Washington special interest groups.
On Tuesday, I urge my fellow Big First voters to join me in supporting Jim Barnett: a lifelong Kansan who has dedicated his life to community and public service and has served Kansas Republicans with honor as a State Senator and as the Republican Nominee against ultra liberal Democrat Kathleen Sebelius. A vote for Jim Barnett is a vote for Kansans, and not outside special interest groups.

Mr. Mallon:
Your letter has some mistakes. I know for a fact that Tracey Mann is born and raised in Western Kansas in a small town called Quinter. Your guy has probably never heard of it because he does not get out much past Cottonwood Falls or occasionally out of the district in Wichita. Tracey and his wife Audrey live in Salina. Tracey Mann went to Kansas State University. He is as Kansas as it gets. I am not surprised by the money Tracey's campaign has raised, he is not a politician, and therefore is a real outsider and someone our country desperately needs.
Jim Barnett ought to spend less time spreading lies, sending negative attack mailers to us, and more time telling us what he has actually done in the state senate.
I am disgusted with Jim Barnett and his classless attacks on Mr. Mann.

DarronL is absolutely right! Before anybody considers voting for Jim Barnett, consider this: Barnett complains in fliers and radio and TV ads that he has been "falsely attacked by" Huelskamp's "special interest groups." He goes on to say he is no politician and that Huelskamp is playing Washington-style politics and the character attacks are false. Barnett complains, and then attacks Huelskamp and falsely attacks Tracey Mann: this is the height of hipocrisy (a true politician)!
Barnett says in one attack: "Mann is not one of us, he's not from Western Kansas." Has Jim looked at a map (Quinter is much further west than Emporia!). And the reference to Mann being from Johnson County is ridiculous, but what's even more ironic: has anyone asked about Jim Barnett and his wife having a residence in Johnson County--and hasn't she been teaching in the K.C. area? Will that appear in any newspapers!?
As a life-long Republican, I will vote for someone who has class, who does not attack other Republicans, but focuses on solutions and correcting the problems we face as Kansans and Americans (problems created by elitist, hypocrit-politicians). I will vote for Tracey Mann and encourage people from Emporia and throughout the First District to vote for him as well. He represents conservative, Christian ideals (he doesn't stoop to the level of creating misleading and false attacks in his ads and then complains about others doing the same to him). He is above that and focused on more important things: solving our problems.
If Jim Barnett wins the primary, for the first time in my voting life, I will not vote in the General Election for this seat. I didn't think Barnett would stoop to this level, but I was wrong. Maybe this hidden side of him was one of the reasons he couldn't win against one of the most liberal democrat governors ever!
Jim Barnett, your hipocrisy and lack of class disgusts me, too!! No vote for you (ever).

KU2,
I have been a republican all my life also.
That does not mean you have to vote a straight ticket If Dr.Barnett wins the primary, you can still vote another party for that posistion to show your disapproval. I am hoping it won't come to that.

I trust Jim Barnett for his hard work, good sense, and perhaps most of all, for his honesty and sense of service.
I can remember a couple of years ago the reports came out on what legislators had received from lobbyists through the course of the legislative session ... which for some members was a shockingly lengthy list ... but for Dr. Barnett showed that he had received a meal at a meeting where he was a speaker (and forgot to pay, like he usually would) and he accepted a package of cheese-crackers from somebody during a very late-night session. That made an impression on me of someone who knows who he works for, and recognizes the perils of accepting things from lobbyists.
Jim Barnett will represent the district -- and all of it -- quite well.
